MEPcontent and IVAR have strengthened their BIM partnership joining forces during the third of the total four FutureBuild conferences planned together for 2018, this time in Trieste on September 27th.
The conference focused on the themes of recycling, reuse and reconstruction of spaces and objects of the contemporary city, in order to increase awareness about the need to design and build the city of tomorrow different from the existing one.
Starting this spring, IVAR has published its BIM files on the MEPcontent platform. There are five aspects that the Italian company considers fundamental in the creation of BIM families: the accurate graphic representation, the reduced file size, the ease of use, the differentiated levels of detail and the quality of the contained information. On this last point, Francesca Gualeni, BIM Specialist of IVAR, has emphasized the importance of the EMCS standard.
She says: "Thanks to the EMCS standard it is possible to standardize all the information contained in the models and comply with the standards currently used internationally".
In order to comply with the Extended MEPcontent Standard, IVAR followed very precise rules for the graphic definition of models, for the management of materials and for the use of shared parameters.
"Using models compliant with the EMCS, we are sure that the graphic representation of the BIM family is complete: inside the model there must be connectors and information that allow it to relate to other components from different manufacturers. This way, all the information is homogeneous and it is easy to find links to the relevant technical documentation. The reduced file sizes guarantees the normal performance of the project, without any slowdowns caused by excessive sizes of the content used".
The information contained in the models can thus be used by all professionals working on the project, ensuring the quality of the content. Thanks to the great navigability of the MEPcontent site, designers can easily navigate the wide range of families proposed by IVAR.
